Nocturnus - Thresholds

Building upon the already-revolutionary approach to technical death metal on their debut, 'Thresholds' was released during a tumultuous time for Nocturnus, with founding member Mike Browning forced out of the band. This album was the band's last release for 7 years, and their final release on Earache Records.

Space and science-themed lyrical content may be more common place now, as are keyboard-driven metal bands, and but it's thanks to the pioneering work of bands like Nocturnus that the path was cleared for the likes of Necrophagist and Children Of Bodom years later, both of whom cite Nocturnus as a key influence.
